THE PUBLIC REVENUE OFFICE AT THE HIGHEST EUROPEAN SUMMIT OF TAX ADMINISTRATIONS – TADEUS

In line with the commitment to advance the participation of the Public Revenue Office (PRO) at the international level, the PRO Director, Ms. Elena Petrova, Psy.M, together with Associate Director Tanja Anchevska, participated in the TADEUS EU Summit of Tax Administrations, organized by the European Commission and the Danish Tax Agency. The event gathered the heads of tax administrations from EU member states and other EU candidate countries.

The main theme of the summit was building robust tax administrations in a changing world, with an emphasis on the new risk landscape, such as cyber and hybrid attacks, natural disasters, pandemics, and other extraordinary events like wars, etc., arising from the expansion of technologies, global connectivity, climate change, geopolitical situations, and more. Tax revenue collection is crucial for the well-being of society, and tax administrations must be resilient and adaptable to all conditions to continuously fulfill their function of collecting revenue and maintaining budgetary liquidity.

In her address, the Director emphasized that one of the main challenges for the PRO is digital transformation, which cannot be separated from the issue of protecting data, human, and material resources from destruction, misuse, and similar threats.

In addition to global challenges, the PRO also faces specific risks related to the socio-political and economic context in the country. The Director stressed that the grey economy poses serious risks, including cross-border transactions and online activities, which requires enhanced international cooperation, data exchange, and administrative assistance between countries.
