PUBLIC REVENUE OFFICE ON EXPLANATORY SCREENING IN BRUSSELS FOR CHAPTER 16 – TAXATION

A delegation of the Public Revenue Office led by the Chief Negotiator for the Republic of North Macedonia, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Mr.Bojan Marichikj and the Director of the Public Revenue Office Ms. Sanja Lukarevska today at the explanatory screening meeting for Chapter – 16, Taxation started the first phase of the negotiations with the European Union..

At the meeting, representatives of the European Commission presented the EU regulation relating to direct and indirect taxation adopted at the end of 2018, prevention of tax evasion, mutual assistance in the field of indirect taxation and current developments regarding the Directives on the development of e-commerce related to VAT. In the forthcoming period, there will be meetings at the bilateral level, which will present the degree of domestic compliance with EU law, the strengthening of institutional and administrative capacities, the necessary human, financial and IT resources for the implementation of European standards.

 

 
 


Progress in reducing the administrative burden for taxpayers and the VAT refund procedure exists, but intensive work needs to be done on the efficient implementation of the Tax System Reform Strategy for the period from 2021-2025, with the aim of effective automatic exchange of tax information with EU member states.

At this explanatory screening in Brussels, for Chapter 16 – Taxation, in addition to the Public Revenue Оffice, the Albanian Tax Administration also participated.
