THE PUBLIC REVENUE OFFICE AND THE STATE AUDIT OFFICE ON A WORKING VISIT TO THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

The Director of the Public Revenue Office, Ms. Sanja Lukarevska, and the Chief State Auditor, Mr. Maksim Acevski, together with employees from both institutions, had a working visit to the Republic of Armenia in the period from 18 to 20 September 2023, where they met with high-ranking representatives from the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance, The State Revenue Committee and the State Audit of the Republic of Armenia. The working visit was organized by UNDP in Republic of North Macedonia. With Natia Natsvlishvili, the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Armenia, we discussed the institutional setting in audit and public revenues, digitalization and the way in which international cooperation and exchange of experiences can contribute to the strengthening of institutions.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly of Armenia, Davit Arakelyan, and the President of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, Gevorg Papoyan, introduced the delegation to the way and work of the Assembly and the Commission and expressed their satisfaction with the United Nations Development Program, which enables such working visits are carried out for the exchange of experiences in order to strengthen the institutions to become more efficient and autonomous bodies. Director Lukarevska emphasized that such meetings and collaborations are extremely important for strengthening the capacities of the tax administration and the institutional setting, with which the institutions in the North Macedonia become more effective and better prepared to adequately fulfill their responsibilities.

Productive conversations were also held with the team from the National Innovative SDG Lab, where various innovative solutions were presented, which they are implementing in cooperation with the institutions in Armenia, especially in the area of tax compliance. Within the framework of the visit, the Director of the State Audit Office, Atom Janyugazayan, presented the audit work and the way audits are conducted in Armenia, and Lukarevska and the Deputy Director of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, Ashot Muradyan, shared experiences and best practices which both tax administrations are implementing.

The cooperation with the international partners and long-term collaborators UNDP continues and will be deepened in the future in order to build a modern tax administration that follows the trends in the tax sphere.
